The NCAA hand-delivered an award to Pete Frates, the former Boston College baseball captain who touched off the national craze.

The former New Orleans Saints star, Steve Gleason, 39, is the subject of "Gleason," a film by the documentary veteran Clay Tweel that has been emptying packs of tissues on the film-festival circuit ahead of its release this summer by Amazon and "Spotlight" distributor Open Road. Just like many other camps, Hope Loves Company gives kids the chance to sleep in log cabins, eat in mess halls, play outdoors and spend hours developing lasting friendships.

But unlike most other places, these campers also pick up strategies for coping with the stress that comes from taking care of parents or other family members with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.

Kevin Turner Tribute 1969-2016

Kevin Turner was the star fullback for the Alabama Crimson Tide and he played in the NFL for the Patriots and Eagles until 1999. In May 2010, Kevin was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, and after his tireless battle, sadly we lost Kevin on March 24th, 2016.
